The European Commission on Friday said it has adopted a new package of sanctions against Russia, its 19th since the war in Ukraine began, and will now present it for approval by member states.
“We can confirm that the commission has adopted a new package of sanctions against Russia, the 19th package,” commission spokeswoman Paula Pinho told reporters in Brussels.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas are scheduled to make a statement later in the day following the adoption of the bloc’s 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
